Northern Agricultural Union of the Tajo Valley celebrates 30th anniversary

As part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of Agrotego (Agricultural union of the Northern part of the Tajo valley) a meeting will be held to evaluate the association's role over the last three decades. As well to identify the future challanges for the regional and national agriculture.

The event will take place in Golegã, at the headquarters of Agrotejo, this coming Friday the 11 November at 11:30 am. The meeting will be attended by the current Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Luís Capoulas Santos, as well as the previous holders of this brief from the government.

“Proud of the work we have done, aware of the current challenges, we prepare for the future in a responsible way. After 30 years, the reality is different, the situation is different, but the desire to improve is still there", says Antonio Godinho de Carvalho, president of Agrotejo.

During the celebrations and taking advantage of the 2016 celebration of the “National year against food waste”, the new ambassador will be presented by the Restolho project, namely the singer Mafalda Veiga.

The Restolho project, with the motto “a second harvest, so nothing is lost” was started in 2013. It was a partnership between Argrotejo, Agromais, FPBACF and Entrajuda in the fight against foodwaste. Recently, this project has already resulted in a re-use of 70 tons of agricultural products that would otherwise have been wasted.
