Indian company targets kids with new packaging

Indian company INI Farms has brought a new line of fruit packaging on the the market, it is targeted at attracting kids, but also to promote food safety.

"We have launched this packaging to make fruit attractive for kids," explains Purnima Khandelwal, CEO at INI Farms. "Kids do not eat enough fruit so this new, fun packaging with dinosaurs will appeal to kids as will the small size of the bananas. We have also packed the Kimaye pomegranate arils for Kids."

Food safety is also an issue in India as the cool chain is not always reliable. INI source the fruit directly from the grower and bring it their packhouse to be sorted, processed and packed before going to the retailer.

Food safety and residue levels are taken as standard in other parts of the world, but these issues are now becoming important for Indian consumers.

"We are ensuring Indian parents that our product is safe for their children to eat, by promising international food safety standards on Indian produce," explains Purnima.

The kid's packaging is only for the domestic market at the moment as is a four piece pomegranate pack.

There is however a very attractive two piece pomegranate which will be in the European market in time for Christmas.
