Camposol ships its first container of avocados to Japan

Camposol has proudly announced the shipping of its first container of Hass avocados to Japan. This represents a great challenge for the company which, after several months of arduous work, sees the fruits of its efforts with this significant achievement for a demanding market.

Having satisfactorily passed the inspections required by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the corresponding authorities, Camposol shipped its first container of avocados to Japan on June 17.

The opportunities arising from these shipments open for Camposol the expectations to enter this high potential market while strengthening its commercial strategy in Asia.

Allan Cooper, managing director of Camposol’s avocado business unit, said that Japan is a country with lots of potential where avocados are known and the yearly consumption reaches 50 – 60,000 tons: “We will gain market share in Japan from year to year. This is an introductory year, but we are confident that in the next years there will be a strong increase in our avocado exports to Asia, and Japan will definitely be a relevant country due to the already developed level of consumption”, he explained.

Through a commercial agreement with one of the major avocado importers in Japan, plans have been made for an initial sales campaign in supermarkets. The first year will be a period of coordinated work, with the aim of a good introduction of the Peruvian avocados from Camposol in Japan.

“We will gain market share and consumer preference. We want to position the avocado as one of the most representative Peruvian fruits on a global level”, commented Allan Cooper.
