Orangeline Farms annual highway cleanup

Battle of the garbage bags in Ontario

Sometime ago Ontario asked something of Ontarians, a commitment, a pledge of sorts, to “Keep it Beautiful”. So Orangeline Farms did just that by cleaning an adopted stretch of Highway 77. Each year they renew that promise, except this year they decided to introduce a bit of friendly sportsmanship.

Orangeline along with their brand Zing! Healthy Foods gave the staff something to defend and/or discover this year by engaging them in an activity based event. “Moving forward, we now have a good dose of healthy competition by separating the cleanup crew into two teams, Northbound vs. Southbound with an award for most bags collected. Competition isn’t for everyone, that’s why we’re offering some friendly awards too, like strangest pickup, trash to treasure, and wet shoe award, to name a few” mentions Jordan Kniaziew, VP of Sales and Marketing for Zing Healthy Foods. “Doing things a bit different is our maxim here. It’s what we aim to achieve in everything we do.”

This past Saturday June 11th, marked the 3rd year that Orangeline has dedicated its resources to revitalizing the highway just north of Leamington as part of their pledge. “A healthy lifestyle doesn’t begin and end with ourselves, aside from cleaning our environment, we collect rainwater for irrigation to feed our crops, it’s one of many things we do for sustainability, which in turn benefits us,” says Duffy Kniaziew, President of Orangeline Farms.

“The decision to participate in the adopt-a-highway program is one small way we can give back and show our gratitude,” said Kniaziew. “What better way to show visitors our lovely town then by rolling out the orange/red carpet!”
