Planting delayed by a few days

US(ME): Spring snow storm acted like rain

On May 16, parts of New England were covered in snow. Some towns in Maine recorded as much as 7.5 inches, setting a record spring snow storm. According to a spokesperson from Guerrette Sales in Caribou, ME the snow storm had no impact. The company grows potatoes and is in the midst of its planting season. “The storm just took us out of the field for a couple of days,” Guerrette’s spokesperson commented.

“There was no damage as temperatures didn’t get below freezing. With 34⁰F it was a wet snow that acted just like rain,” said Guerrette’s representative. The snow is all melted now and nothing was damaged. “It was like having a rain storm during the potato planting season.”
