Organic dried fruit

Expansion doubles processing capacity of biosanica

The producer biosanica celebrated the opening of the new expansion on the 9th September. The new 500 m² dry storage and the 700 m² warehouse was opened at their location along the A20 motorway in North Germany and in the presence of the Minister of Economy, Building and Tourism in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In the dry storage the organic apple chips and the organic vegetable chips that are ready for shipment are stored. In the new warehouse several cold storage facilities and an apple-sorting machine is integrated.

“After the start of the production in 2013 we reached in a relatively short time the total production capacity while the demand for our products increased, so it was necessary start the expansions at our current location,” explained the biosanica CEO Martin Nätscher.

A total of 3.9 million Euro was invested in the expansion. 1.95 million Euro was invested in the actual build and another 1.96 million Euro was invested in the purchase of new production machines, for instance a second fruit dryer and a preparing line for the apples. And heat and energy saving measures were created.

Biosanica can process 10,000 metric tons of organic apples per year with these new investments. And according to the Minister Harry Glawe these continuous investments of biosanica help the economic growth of the area. The state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern supported biosanica, with 1.4 million Euro. The first steps for the expansion were taken in the middle of March of this year. The project was mostly conducted by German companies. Martin Nätscher thanked the workers at the opening for the quality and the timely completion of the works.
