Campaign to get Aussies eating more fruit and veg

Queensland plates are about to get more colourful, following the launch of a new campaign to promote health and happiness.

The Queensland Government campaign, endorsed by the Cancer Council, aims to help Queenslanders maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle to improve overall wellbeing.

Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift welcomed the launch of the $5 million four-year campaign.

"Queenslanders will have easy access to almost 200 recipes developed for the campaign and posted on healthier.qld.gov.au," Ms Clift said.

"The campaign is perfect for people who need help with getting fit, providing practical tips to improve diet and lifestyle. It's also ideal for busy families who want to nourish their loved ones with simple colourful approaches to healthy eating."

Ms Clift said the campaign would help to improve the health of Queenslanders.

"Fewer than 10 per cent of Queenslanders currently consume the recommended daily intake of vegetables and only about 60 per cent eat enough fruit," Ms Clift said.

"It's an innovative way to inspire Queenslanders to value fruit and veggies, raising awareness of the health benefits different coloured fruits and veggies have to offer.
