The optimisation works have made it possible to expand the fruit ripening capacity by 6 million kilos, to be added to the 12 million kilos that the company was already handling.
This new investment shows the firm's commitment to promoting the use of the latest technology, as well as improving energy efficiency and supplying its clients with products in the most suitable conditions.
The implementation of the ripening rooms has been motivated by the growing demand for Canarian bananas. The investment will ensure a major boost to local businesses and strengthen trade relations between the different operators at Mercalicante.
The CEO of Eurobanan group, Donal O'Driscoll, stressed the company's strong commitment to Mercalicante, a logistically strategic area for the development of the group in Spain.
