Swiss tomato producer installs Marco yield control system

Jaquenoud, a family run company based in the Swiss countryside near the French border, are the latest tomato producers to invest in Marco’s Yield Control technology at their pack house in Lully.

The company has been growing and packing tomatoes and strawberries since the 1930’s, with the business now in the hands of 4th generation tomato growers Alban and Florian. Jaquenoud specialise in cherry and cocktail tomatoes on the vine, producing beautifully crafted punnets and trays for the European market.

Marco’s yield control system has been specially developed for the packing of tomatoes on the vine, helping to produce consistently stunning packs that comply with European weight legislation, whilst ensuring Jaquenoud dramatically reduce their giveaway.

This was achieved by installing a line of bespoke workstations which helps operators to choose the right number of tomato fruits per pack by use of a light system. Each light represents one tomato, with operators adding or taking out the correct number of fruits, releasing their punnets when they have achieved a green ‘go’ light.
This system has become an instrumental part of Jaquenoud’s operation, complementing the highly advanced irrigation and harvesting technology that ensures tomatoes of the highest quality always reach the consumer.

Jaquenoud have also started using their Marco workstations to pack their rare ‘Mara des Bois’ variety of strawberry, a small sweet fruit whose taste is reminiscent of wild strawberries.

Jaquenoud are pleased with the installation ‘Marco’s workstations have ensured optimum pack quality and presentation, whilst reducing giveaway. They are easy to use and have provided some interesting operator data for the management team. We are very happy with the results so far’.
