Global production of exotic fruit continues to rise

The production of exotic fruit is increasing globally, reports the German website Fruchthandel.de. Between 2003 and 2012 the global production of exotic fruit increased by 48% more than the total fruit production (+28%), figures by Freshfel show. India and China are the main producers and their domestic use is also high.

The US and Europe belong to the main buyers of exotic fruit. Although the import in the US increased slightly, that in Europe decreased.
