New solar installation to ensure sustainable cultivation

Eren Tarim, a producer and exporter based in Mersin, Turkey, operating in an area of 18,000 square metres and established as one of the country’s leading companies in the fruit and vegetable sector, has accomplished the installation of a solar energy system at its production and packing house in December 2014.

This environmentally friendly project, which features the largest roof solar system in the region, has a capacity of 500 kWp, allowing the firm to produce, pack and deliver more natural products produced with cleaner energy.

With this project, Eren Tarim stresses its interest in working in a more environmentally-friendly and sustainable manner, significantly contributing to add value to the company’s products. The goal is to prevent the generation of approximately 445 tonnes of CO2 as well as the protection of 1,100 trees.

The company’s mission is to supply its customers worldwide with high quality fruit, packed under appropriate conditions in competitive terms. It handles 20,000 tonnes of citrus per year and its packing facility also holds HACCP and ISO 22000 certificates.

Other products include tomatoes, grapes, leeks and watermelons, which are shipped to around 30 countries in 3 continents.
