Del Monte Fresh receives 'Sustainably Grown' brand for bananas and pineapple

The globally active certification company SCS Global Services (SCS) has announced that Del Monte Fresh Produce (Del Monte) has received the 'Sustainable Grown' brand for all its banana plantations in Costa Rica and Guatemala and its pineapple farms in Costa Rica. The awarding of the Sustainably Grown certificate is the high point of the years long efforts of Del Monte in Central America to improve their sustainable cultivation methods and have them controlled by independent, external audits. The certified bananas and pineapples produced by Del Monte will now be offered in trade with the SCS Kingfisher Sustainably Grown brand, reports the German website presseschleuder.com.

"The Sustainably Grown certificate is an award for agricultural companies who have a leading role in the area of sustainable agriculture," says Dr. Stanley Rhodes, founder and CEO of SCS Global Services. "Del Monte has shown that they take it seriously to grow bananas and pineapples in such a way that has minimal impact on the environment and ensures the health and safety of employees at the same time."
