Scottish grower wins £250,000 ALDI deal

StirFresh, fruit and vegetable grower and distributor based in Montrose, Scotland has won a £250,000 deal to supply Aldi's 58 Scottish stores.

Stirfresh will supply Aldi’s with its Fresh Soup Mix (600g, available in vegetable and potato and leek, 89p) and Fresh Vegetable Medley (350g of carrot, cauliflower and broccoli, 79p).

Stirfresh has worked with Aldi since attending a supplier open day in 2013 where they impressed buyers with the quality of their produce.

Owner of the company Andrew Stirling explained, "This is about 10% of what we do. It is our first step into retail and will hopefully open the door to other retailers. It is great for Scotland and the Scottish farmers."

StirFresh also supplies ready meal companies, the public sector, such as hospitals and schools and wholesale."

The majority of the produce is grown by the company themselves while some is sourced from other Scottish growers. StirFresh grows on 400 acres in Angus. Andrew said this deal is great for the country.
