India: IG International launches IGSC and opens 8th cold store

With the inauguration ceremony IG International Pvt. Ltd. (IGIPL) launched IGSC and opened its Eigth cold store in Jaipur. The Cold Store has capacity of 1600 MT and eigth banana ripening chambers. Ittook just 6 months to complete the facility under the supervision of Mr. Tarun Arora, Director IGIPL. The extension will cater to thier expanding Fresh Fruits business. IGIPL is aggressively expanding into Cold Chain Logistics Business and has formed a subsdiary, IG Supply Chain Pvt. Ltd. (IGSC) catering to Third Party Cold Chain Logistics business.



Mr. Gian Chand Arora, Chairman IGIPL had the vision of cold chain requirement and built the first cold store in 1999 to cater their import business. With growing business and increased business opportunity IGSC has come up with there Eigth cold store in Jaipur after having operations in Mumbai, Amravati, Chandigarh and Chennai. IGSC is looking to further expansion in cold chain logistics business and are looking to invest 25 Mn $ for coming with mega facilities which are under construction in Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai with cool capacity of another 15,000 MT, thus extending there total capacity to more than 40,000 MT. IGSC is looking to expand the Third Party Logistics business by adding 50 Refrigerated trucks to its existing fleet of 50 Refrigerated trucks.

Mr. Sanjay Arora, Marketing - Director IGIPL, cited that “With the use of Modern and best-in-class technology, IGSC will provide aneffective and economically viable cold chain solution that will totally integrate the supply chains, thereby reducing physical waste and loss of value of perishable commodities.”

IGSC, will be implementing cold stores with as high as possible energy efficiency and utilising all cutting-edge alternatives to save energy, from insulation to cooling technology. They are also looking at generating part of the electricity by their own solar arrays on the warehouse roof, which will possibly in future be used directly in the cold storage system.
