Changing seasons at New Covent Market

Last week FreshPlaza visited London's New Covent Garden Wholesale market. The market was quiet some traders put it less demand due to the change in the seasons, others said more and more small businesses were going direct to the importers and cutting out the wholes traders.

There was lots of great produce on offer nevertheless, still plenty of British soft fruit, also some Dutch strawberries which one trader described as a bit watery! The winter root veg has started to arrive with a great range of colours available also more types of leafy greens that you could count.

Avocados from South America were popular as were Piel de Sapo melons from Spain. New season English apples were readily available and of course pumpkins made an appearance in time for Halloween.
