Olympic Fruit and COOP test new Sormabag
Olympic Fruit and COOP are introducing a new citrus packaging: the Sormabag. The packaging is an improvement in various areas. It offers more space for communication, has a handy hold, is more presentable and is also fully recyclable. The packaging will be tested over the next few months.
Most supermarkets in the Netherlands offer their citrus in the well known net clip packaging: a coloured net with a small information label and a metal clip. It's a relatively cheap packaging, but offers little space for information or consumer experience. It is also not fully recyclable. This is why Olympic Fruit has gone looking for an alternative. They found this with the Sorma Group, who have invested in the development of the Sormabag in recent years.
Together with retailer COOP, Olympic Fruit will test this packaging for 750 gram mandarins over the next few months. During the test it is not only the work and costs surrounding the packaging process that will be reviewed. In collaboration with COOP Olympic Fruit will also involve the consumer with the help of research on the shop floor. Freshpack Handling Systems (Sorma Benelux), the Dutch representative of the Sorma Group, will also be closely involved in the test: they will be supplying the machine and the packaging.
