Lino Raso.
"The produce is mainly destined to the domestic market, but we do send salad and cucumbers to France and England."
The core business of the PO is represented by fresh seasonal fruit. "Strawberries and peaches are our most important products, as we produced 170 and 56 tons respectively. Pears also did well, as we harvested over 101 tons."
The company also produced apricots (14 tons), figs (40 tons), citrus fruit (16 tons), pomegranates (12 tons), apples (7 tons), plums (75 tons) and grapes (19 tons).
In addition to fruit, the PO also deals with vegetables. "In 2013 we handled 420 tons of courgettes, 253 tons of aubergines, 418 tons of lettuce, 210 tons of leaf vegetables," though tomatoes reached 1,480 tons.
"What sets us apart from the rest is our processing method. We work with technology and package our produce very simply, always wanting to supply high-quality and fresh products. In addition, we respect seasonality and try to only cultivate in the most suitable areas. 90% of the production is carried out in the Monte San Biagio plain."
For the future, the PO would like to widen its partner base and increase its market share. They believe fresh produce and timely handling are perfect to gain new clients and improve their presence on the market.
