Spinach may protect against obesity

Can eating spinach protect against obesity? According to Swedish research eating the green plant can effect the feelings of satiety report German website t-online.de. Lund University in Sweden declared that scientist Charlotte Erlanson-Albertsson has shown that the so named thylakoids in spinach had an effect on removing hunger cravings.

For this study a group of 15 test subjects took the substance diluted in water every day. After the trial they stated that they had found it easy to stick to the three meals a day. During the study a control group received just water. Thylakoiden are substances found in spinach but are also found in many other green leaves.

According to the University, it is not sufficient to just eat spinach: the thylakoiden found in the vegetable cannot be broken down by the human body, but have to be first "crushed, filtered and centrifuged."
