Trade mission in Hong Kong

Spain: Murcia seeks to expand table grape market in Asia

With support from the Spanish State Secretary for Trade, Jaime García Legaz and the President of the Spanish Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, APOEXPA will have a stand at Asia Fruit Logistica, which is to take place between 4 and 6 September in Hong Kong, for the first time in ICEX history. The stand will be formed by five producers and exporters of stone fruit and table grapes, Frutas Torero, Frutas Esther, El Ciruelo, Hortiberia and SAT Moyca, all of which aim to promote the export of these products to the Far East.

In 2013, the Region of Murcia's table grape exports will reach a total of 100,000 tonnes, with an approximate value of 180 million Euro. Murcia produces 90% of Spain's seedless grapes and 90% of the Region's producers are members of APOEXPA.

Over the past three years, work has been done to develop the export protocols of Spanish table grapes and stone fruit for destinations such as China, Taiwan, Singapore and India, making this trade mission of paramount importance.

The goal for all the parties involved is to display the "Spain brand" for the first time at a fruit and vegetables fair.
