Countdown to Asia Fruit Logistica commences

Asia Fruit Logistica is gearing up for its biggest and best year yet, with more than 350 exhibitors from 36 countries set to take part in the leading trade show for Asia’s fresh fruit and vegetable business on 4-6 September in Hong Kong.

An opportunity to network with around 6,000 top-level buyers and trade visitors from some 60-plus countries who are expected to pour through the doors of the exhibition at AsiaWorld-Expo Center.

“The vitality, dynamism and opportunity present in the Asian fresh produce market are reflected in all aspects of this year’s event,” says Gérald Lamusse, managing director of event organiser Global Produce Events.

A record 17 different countries will have national pavilions at Asia Fruit Logistica, and Ecuador, Cyprus and Morocco will have a presence on the show floor for the first time.

A number of first-time exhibitors from across the fresh produce value chain will also take part in the event, which will showcase a range of new and exciting products for Asian markets.

One of the debut exhibitors is major US-based marketer Mission Produce, which will be promoting avocados in particular. “Asia is really an undeveloped market for avocados so the opportunity for sales is huge,” says Mission’s Tom Padilla.

Exhibitors and visitors will have even more time do business this year, with Asia Fruit Logistica extending its opening hours to 10:00hrs-17:00hrs daily.

“The exhibition is a great platform to gather current industry information and obtain invaluable insights from leading companies,” says Rosanne Ong of Singapore-based group SunMoon Foods.

Adding value for trade visitors this year will be the new Asia Fruit Logistica Business Forum run by Asiafruit Magazine. Taking place on the show floor, the Business Forum will feature two information sessions daily. Speakers include Retna Malar of Malaysia-based marketing consultancy All About Fresh Produce, who will discuss success stories in marketing; Dr William Chang of Taiwanese company Lytone Enterprise, who will look at how preservation technologies for tropical fruits can benefit the consumer; and Flavio Alzuetta of GlobalGAP, who will discuss how localg.a.p. can help deliver safer produce to consumers in emerging producer countries.
