At Asia Fruit Logistica for the third time: 4-6 September

VLAM treats the Chinese to tasty snacks

VLAM will be organising a group stall for the Belgian fruit and vegetable sector at Asia Fruit Logistica for the third time, from the 4th to the 6th of September. This trade fair participation is in line with the campaign 'Premium Quality, Perfect Taste', which is focussed on the fresh market outside of Europe. "To help the Asian market get to know our products, a chef will prepare tasty snacks with a number of Belgian products," says Sofie Lambrecht, product manager of fruit and vegetables for VLAM. "We will be putting our Jonagold, Conference, strawberries, chicory, red leaves, leek and tomatoes in the spotlight."

Focus on Belgian products

VLAM also partook in Asia Fruit Logistica in 2010 and 2011. Sofie Lambrecht: "Chicory and Conference pears drew a lot of people to our stand back then. However, many visitors confused chicory with Chinese cabbage, or even thought it was a type of fruit. Once they tasted it, however, they seemed to enjoy the bitter taste. This shows that it remains important to produce tasting sessions." The Belgian products can be found at the VLAM stall this year at stall number E26, where trade relations can also contact representatives from REO Veiling and the Belgian Fruitveiling. Sofie Lambrecht: "China has been an important market for us since the market opened to the Belgian Conference pears. We are convinced that our other products could also be of interest for this market."
