Goryeong County marked a major milestone in its expanding agricultural trade with the 2025 Goryeong Strawberry First Export Shipment Ceremony held on November 28 at the Wooridul N Agricultural Cooperative Corporation in Daegaya-eup. The event celebrated the first shipment of the season, sending 200 kilograms of the premium Geumsil strawberry variety to Hong Kong and signaling the start of full-scale overseas distribution.
Wooridul N has been steadily growing its export footprint. Between December 18, 2024, and May 1, 2025, the cooperative exported 23 tons of strawberries to markets including Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia. Building on this momentum, the company aims to boost its export volume by around 30 percent this year.
Goryeong County officials emphasized continued support for strengthening logistics, production standards, and quality control to meet international demand. Efforts include expanding the cultivation of high-quality varieties such as Geumsil and Seolhyang, while fostering closer collaboration between growers and exporting companies to respond efficiently to overseas buyers.
The county expects that the latest shipment will accelerate the global recognition of Goryeong strawberries. Through sustained administrative and technical support, officials hope to secure stable income for local farmers and reinforce a long-term, sustainable production base that can compete in international markets.
