Exotic theme day at De Mooij Amsterdam draws strong interest

After previous successful theme days focused on French, Italian, and Spanish products, among others, De Mooij Amsterdam dedicated Thursday, 27 November, entirely to exotics. The colourful theme day attracted many visitors and brought a tropical atmosphere to the Food Center in Amsterdam.

The event showcased the wide range of exotic fruits and vegetables, which have been booming in the trade in recent years. The space was festively decorated in tropical style, and visitors were welcomed with a fresh, exotic smoothie. A chef prepared surprising dishes with exotic products on the spot, from mango and passion fruit to cassava and chillies, demonstrating how versatile these products can be in the kitchen.

"We are seeing demand for exotics grow significantly in recent years, both from shops and the hospitality sector," Danny de Mooij explains. "Moreover, the timing of this event is ideal, with the run-up to the holidays when exotic products traditionally receive extra attention. This theme day is a great opportunity to inspire customers and introduce them to new flavours and applications."
