DP World's new Atlas Service completed its first loading operation on 25 November, marking the launch of a dedicated shipping route linking Morocco with the UK and Europe. The first reefer containers were loaded onto the M/V BF Carp at the Port of Agadir before departure to London Gateway and Antwerp Gateway.
According to DP World, the new route shortens the transit time for Moroccan fruit and vegetable exports to the UK by two days. The company stated that the shorter lead time is expected to support product quality and reduce transport-related emissions.

The M/V BF Carp arrived in Agadir on 17 November with more than 400 new reefer containers to position equipment for the first northbound leg. The Atlas Service links Agadir and Casablanca with DP World's terminals in London Gateway and Antwerp Gateway.
DP World noted that the route offers an alternative to road transport by providing a direct maritime connection for perishable cargo. The company reported that shifting freight from road to sea through the new service is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 70 per cent, based on its estimates, by converting 150,000 tons of fresh produce exports from truck to vessel.
Morocco exports more than 6.5 million tons of fruit and vegetables annually to Western Europe, with volumes increasing at more than 20 per cent per year. Trade agreements and policy measures have contributed to the rise, and DP World said the sea link aligns with the growing demand for containerised reefer capacity.
Two vessels will operate on the Atlas Service, the M/V BF Carp and the M/V BF Perch. Bookings are open for the M/V BF Perch, scheduled to arrive in Agadir on 1 December and depart on 2 December. DP World said its digital booking platform is active for direct customer reservations.
