Ukraine lifts tomato and cucumber imports by 4.3% and 13.6%

Ukraine's import volumes of tomatoes and cucumbers increased from January to October 2025, according to data from the State Customs Service. Tomato imports rose 4.3 per cent to 81,820 tons, while cucumber imports grew 13.6 per cent to 109,560 tons compared with the same period in 2024.

The value of tomato imports increased 18.2 per cent to US$16.92 million, and cucumber imports rose 30 per cent to US$23.39 million.

Türkiye remained the dominant supplier. Tomatoes from Türkiye accounted for 64.3 per cent of total imports, followed by Poland at 11.7 per cent and the Netherlands at 11.18 per cent. In the cucumber category, Türkiye supplied 88.2 per cent of shipments, with Spain at 3.7 per cent and Finland at 2 per cent.

The previous year showed a similar pattern, with Türkiye supplying 73.6 per cent of tomatoes and 85.2 per cent of cucumbers. Poland and the Netherlands also featured among the top suppliers.

Tomato exports increased to 393 tons, up from 301 tons last year. Moldova purchased 60.6 per cent of exported tomatoes, Poland 36.4 per cent, and Singapore 0.8 per cent. Last year's main buyers were Moldova, Lithuania, and Malaysia.

Cucumber exports also expanded. In the first 10 months of 2025, Ukraine exported 2,440 tons, compared with 1,010 tons a year earlier. Poland accounted for 52.3 per cent of shipments, Estonia for 37.5 per cent, and Moldova for 8 per cent. The same countries led export purchases last year, although Estonia then held a larger share at 54.7 per cent.

The higher import and export volumes reflect ongoing seasonal sourcing shifts and evolving supply dynamics within Ukraine's fresh vegetable sector.
