“This will be the first hydroponic greenhouse of this caliber to be built in Florida”

In the first quarter of 2026, ground will break on a new hydroponic greenhouse operation in Newberry, Florida. Not only will the greenhouse facility be new, so is the company behind it. Led by CEO Charles Garza, Harvest Singularity plans to make their 325,000 sq. ft. Newberry facility the first of ten facilities to be built in Florida in the coming years.

Full integration of packaging line
"It's a very modern, technology driven hydroponic greenhouse and the first greenhouse of this kind in Florida," says Joost Somford with JASA Packaging Solutions. Somford proudly shares that JASA will be developing and building the complete packaging line for the company. "We will serve as a one-stop shop, which includes managing the entire logistics process, from harvest to packaging as well as taking care of the transportation steps in between. Integrating and managing the entire packaging line allows us to keep the overview and results in a higher output as well as lower maintenance expenses," added Somford.

The greenhouse itself will be built by Dalsem, a greenhouse builder from the Netherlands and TTA has been chosen as the supplier of the harvesting system. "All parties involved have been working together as a team, which has allowed us to make decisions quickly. It's great to see everything come together now," commented Somford. Although ground will break early next year, the facility is scheduled to be operational in Q1 2027.

In stores within 24 hours
Leafy greens such as lettuce, arugula, and kale are the first products that will be grown in the Newberry facility and are mainly destined for the local Florida market. In addition, some products may make their way over upstate. "After harvest, the goal is to have Harvest Singularity's products in stores within 24 hours." Not only does the greenhouse give consumers in Florida access to healthy and fresh greenhouse grown vegetables, the facility also generates employment opportunities and will allow the economy in the region to expand.
