Macaúba is a native Brazilian palm whose oil-rich almonds are used in food applications. Brazil's pecan sector continues to expand, with production concentrated in the southern states. Brazil is currently the world's fourth-largest pecan producer, behind the United States, Mexico, and South Africa.
In 2024, the Republic of Korea imported more than US$2.8 billion in agricultural products from Brazil. The new approvals follow earlier authorisations for sesame.
According to government figures, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 491 new market openings since the beginning of 2023. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) coordinated the negotiations.
