Agreste on French apple campaign

"The domestic market is less active than last year"

"On November 1st, 2025, French production of table apples was estimated at 1.59 million tons, which is 2% less than in 2024. Prices, down in October, reflect a less active domestic market than in 2024," according to Agreste.

Estimated production in 2025 slightly lower than in 2024
French production is expected to reach 1.59 million tons in 2025, a slight 2% drop from last year (against a backdrop of a 2% decrease in acreage).

Yields vary from region to region: in the PACA region, yields are likely to be similar to last year, except for early varieties. In Occitanie, with the increase in acreage in the Garonne Valley and higher yields, production is 7% higher than last year. In Pays de la Loire, the harvest is coming to an end with late varieties such as Pink Lady. Production is expected to be up despite reduced acreage. (In the Vendée, the harvest tends towards smaller sizes, due to pressure from ash aphids). In Nouvelle Aquitaine, the reduction in acreage combined with the heatwave and attacks by ash aphids has resulted in a 15% drop in production. In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, production is estimated to be down by 7%, mainly due to scab, ash aphids, and the hot weather in August, which affected fruit size. Lastly, in the Centre-Val de Loire region, production is estimated to be down by 15%, due to a drop in size as a result of the heatwave and pressure from ash aphids.

Prices lower than last year
"In October 2025, prices for table apples were down by 5%, compared with the high level of October 2024. They are 3% higher than the 2020-2024 average. The domestic market is less active than last year."
