At the IAD-IBD trade show, Laure Sandoval, managing director and founder of EAGL Sanodev, presented a number of innovations, including AgroProtect and AgroActiv, designed to help growers combat pests and diseases. For over twelve years, the company has been working on alternative solutions to chemicals, in collaboration with Naotec, which manufactures and markets its technologies.
AgroProtect: A preventive UV-based solution
Among the flagship products presented at the show, AgroProtect attracted particular attention. This plant reinforcement machine is based on innovative UV technology that acts preventively on crops. "Exposure to UV light generates stress in the plant, which becomes alert and reacts by activating its natural defence mechanisms. It secretes oxidizing substances, thickens its leaves, and fights pests naturally." An effective preventive system, since this technology can reduce the use of plant protection products by 50%. All in all, a major advance for growers looking for sustainable solutions in the face of increasingly restrictive regulatory and environmental constraints.

AgroActiv: A thermal alternative for pest control
Another solution presented by the company is the AgroActiv machine. This equipment has been designed for curative purposes to combat insect pests. Its principle is based on a targeted heat treatment, capable of rapidly and intensely heating the pests, thereby causing their death. "The insects cannot withstand the heat, while the plant is not affected," explains Laure Sandoval. This curative approach, tested in particular on lettuce, leek, and asparagus, has produced impressive results, eradicating pests by 85-95%.
These solutions have been warmly welcomed by growers, who are faced each year with more restrictions in the number of chemical control methods available.
