US: Publix rides financial success in third quarter
The Lakeland, Florida-based grocer reported sales of $15.4bln for the three months ending September 27, a 5.2% year-over-year increase. Comparable sales rose 3.4% from last year, and net earnings reached $1.2bln, a 7.8% increase over the third quarter of 2024. Net earnings for the year totaled $3.6bln, up 3.9% year over year.

A new Kroger Marketplace is now open in the Bonds Ranch Community in North Fort Worth, according to a news release from the company. The 123,000-square-foot includes a Pax & Benficia café, Murray's Cheese counter, a fuel center, a grab & go kiosk with snacks and beverages, and departments for produce, floral, meat and seafood, per the release.

Amazon enters into $38bln partnership with OpenAI

Singapore: Grab reports third quarter 2025 results
Grab Holdings Limited announced unaudited financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2025. Revenue grew 22% year-over-year, or 17% on a constant currency basis to $873mln. On-Demand GMV grew 24% year-over-year, or 20% on a constant currency basis to $5.8bln. Profit for the quarter of $17mln; Adjusted EBITDA of $136mln, up 51% year-over-year. Adjusted Free Cash Flow of $283mln on a trailing twelve months basis.

4 new Okay stores with Bon'Ap department will open in East and West Flanders
In the coming months, some East and West Flanders Comarkt stores will open as their final Colruyt Group destination, Okay. Notably, each of these stores will also feature a Bon'Ap department, adding a fresh dimension to the shopping experience. The first shop-in-shop concept will launch in Machelen (Zulte), at the store on Rijksweg, opening its doors on 5 November. A month later, the opening of the Okay in De Haan is scheduled to open. In spring 2026, branch stores in Mariakerke and Wachtebeke will follow suit, each combining Okay with Bon'Ap.

Tesco Fruit & Veg for Schools scheme reveals South Tyneside school bought almost 15,000 pieces of fruit and veg in one school year, winning the inaugural 'Ultimate Munchers' award. Mancunians prove they are Guac & Roll Stars, with Manchester primary school eating 10 times more than the average amount of avocados. With almost 900 tonnes of fruit and veg bought through the programme (the weight of six blue whales!) and the purchasing power in the hands of the pupils, the receipts made for interesting reading. Most popular fruits were oranges, grapes, strawberries, apples and bananas; and top of the veggies were cauliflower, carrots, potatoes, broccoli and most surprisingly, cabbage!".
