McCain Foods has announced plans to expand its manufacturing facility in Araxá, Minas Gerais, with an estimated investment of R$1.8 billion (approximately US$317 million), marking the company's largest investment in the region to date.
The project includes the addition of a new French fry production line and a pre-formed products line, which will increase processing capacity in Brazil and improve supply to the domestic market. Operations are expected to begin in the second half of 2027, targeting retail, food service, and fast-food channels.

McCain's Managing Director for Brazil, Aluizio Periquito Neto, said the country is on track to become the third-largest market for frozen French fries globally. He said the expansion will allow the company to strengthen its position and increase production capacity to meet demand.
The investment will also cover new raw potato storage facilities and expanded cold storage for frozen products, aimed at maintaining a consistent supply throughout the year.
McCain estimates the expansion will create around 350 jobs in Araxá and involve more than 1,000 professionals in the agricultural supply chain.
The company stated that the project will follow global operational standards designed to reduce environmental impact. The Araxá facility already operates on 100% renewable energy and has received carbon-neutral certification for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions from BSI.
