According to Susana Alejandro, president and CEO of the Saica Group, "Saica is committed to long-term stability and growth in the United States. This investment is proof that we are moving forward with our plans in this strategic market. We are convinced that we can provide products that will differentiate us in a very competitive market. It reflects our deep commitment to providing exceptional service, as we believe that our expertise in producing lighter-weight packaging papers and corrugated cardboard will enable us to bring high-performance solutions to the U.S. market while optimizing the use of materials."
A 32,000 m² facility that will produce more than 111.5 million m² of corrugated packaging
Designed with a view to future growth, the 32,000 m² facility will produce more than 111.5 million m² of corrugated packaging. Thanks to its direct connection to the rail network, the transport of paper reels will be optimized. The site will also play a strategic role as a backup plant for Saica Pack's Hamilton, Ohio, site, strengthening the resilience of the supply chain. The site will include manufacturing, converting, and production areas, as well as warehouse and office space. By locating the site in Anderson, Saica is expanding its geographic presence in the Midwest, creating a stronger service platform for the future.
Commissioning of the plant is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, and recruitment for technical and management positions will begin by the end of the year. In the first two years of operation, the company expects to create more than 50 full-time jobs, rising to more than 100 once the plant is fully operational.
The Saica Group plans to invest $800 million in the U.S. market
This project is part of Saica's strategic plan to invest around 800 million dollars in the U.S. market over the next few years. The Saica Group's move into Anderson is a mutually beneficial opportunity. Anderson will benefit greatly from the company's investment of more than $110 million and the creation of more than 100 well-paying jobs, while Saica will benefit from a favorable environment for industrial development, a skilled workforce, and excellent logistics connectivity.
At an inauguration ceremony held on Tuesday, the company officially celebrated the construction of its new state-of-the-art factory. Distinguished guests included former senator Tim Lanane, representing the mayor of Anderson, David J. Adams, Indiana secretary of commerce, and Rob Sparks, executive director of the Madison County Economic Development Corporation, as well as other regional representatives. Alongside Saica representatives, their construction partners Miller Valentine Construction, CSX, and FM Global were also present, as well as other stakeholders and members of the local community.
