The second green economy business mission to Thailand was built on the outcomes of the 2024 event, as Australian companies explored new partnerships with the Thai industry and government to support the country's transition toward a green economy.
The two-day mission was led by Dr Paul Grimes, Austrade CEO, and Peter Fox, Linfox Executive Chairman and Australia's Business Champion to Thailand. Sixteen delegates representing fourteen Australian firms participated, showcasing capabilities in carbon and energy management, waste management, agtech, green skills, and other sustainability-related sectors.

Showcasing technology and exploring collaborations
Each delegate made a three-minute presentation to Thai business and government representatives, highlighting their company's expertise and how it aligns with Thailand's Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy framework. The presentations were followed by individual business-matching sessions, resulting in more than 150 meetings with over 60 Thai companies, government agencies, state enterprises, and educational institutions.
"I think the biggest thing for us is exploring partnerships," said Moses Lim, CEO of Green Eco Technologies, a waste management technology company. "Being able to find the right partners here with whom we can enter the Thai market. Also, someone who is trusted, understands the industry, and has a passion for a true circular economy solution."
Networking and ongoing engagement
The mission concluded with a networking reception at the Australian Ambassador's residence in Bangkok, attended by more than 70 representatives from Thai government departments, industry associations, and businesses. The event provided an opportunity for delegates to strengthen connections and outline potential joint projects.
"Austrade has been very helpful in ensuring that local partners understand our business," said Patrick Lay, founder and director of Retragreen, a company focused on HVAC optimisation for commercial buildings. "They have given us a lot of insights on how to do business in Thailand. Most importantly, they have done an incredible job linking us with the right partners. We are leaning on Austrade to guide us to build long-term and sustainable business in Thailand."
The mission forms part of Australia's broader engagement with Thailand's BCG strategy, which aims to integrate circular economy principles into key industries such as food processing, energy, and agri-innovation.
