The Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture and the Sea has completed negotiations with China's General Administration of Customs (GACC) to establish the requirements for exporting Portuguese pears to the Chinese market, according to a statement from the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary (DGAV).
Registration of orchards and packing facilities on the Phytosanitary Prevention and Control Management platform (GESFITO) will begin with the 2026 export campaign. DGAV is currently finalizing the procedures needed to implement the phytosanitary protocol.
