Coco Gauff embraces ‘Fruit Salad Queen’ nickname but wants something fiercer

At the China Open in Beijing, defending champion Coco Gauff delighted fans with her humor and energy, but she's ready for a new nickname. Local supporters dubbed her the "Fruit Salad Queen" for her courtside snack habit and the "Ambassador of Beijing" for her praise of the city. While Gauff says she enjoys both, she challenged fans to come up with an animal-inspired nickname that reflects her fighting spirit on court. The 21-year-old American, fresh off a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Kamilla Rakhimova, continues her title defense next against Leylah Fernandez.
