New Ceará farm boosts Brazil’s melon exports

Itaueira Agropecuária has resumed production in Ceará with the launch of a new farm in Morada Nova, marking a new stage in the company's expansion and export operations. The site covers 4,100 hectares and began harvesting in September, with 200 containers of melons already shipped abroad during the first harvest.

The company aims to export more than 1,300 containers in the coming years, reinforcing its position in international markets. Itaueira said the new facility enhances production capacity and supports consistent export supply for key destinations.

Focus on export growth
September is a key month for Itaueira's export activities, particularly for its REI melon range. The company's goal for the 2025–2026 season is to increase its market presence in North America, Europe, and the Middle East while maintaining regular supply and strengthening trade relationships.

The Ceará operation also improves logistics efficiency by providing easier access to export routes and reducing transport times to international markets.

Presence at Fruit Attraction 2025
Itaueira participated in Fruit Attraction 2025 in Madrid, holding meetings with distributors and buyers from various countries. International Sales Manager Aryan Schut said, "The new Morada Nova farm gives us scale and regularity, allowing us to supply our global customers even more efficiently. The 24 containers shipped in this first month of operation demonstrate the strength of this project."

Production and sustainability
The company reports continued investment in technology, sustainable farming practices, and logistics systems to ensure fruit quality and maintain reliability in exports.

Itaueira produces a range of fresh fruit, including REI® melons (Amarelo, Pele de Sapo, Galia, Cantaloupe, and Matisse varieties) and Magali mini watermelons, cultivated across Ceará, Bahia, and Piauí. Its operations also include bell peppers, honey, shrimp, grapes, juices, and pulp for the food industry.
