Ukraine is set to resume its state grants program for orchards and greenhouse farms in 2026, aiming to support niche agricultural production and create jobs in regional areas.
Deputy Minister of Economy, Taras Vysotsky, emphasized that supporting farmers, particularly in frontline and recently liberated territories, remains a priority. "Our goal is to provide stable conditions for farmers to develop their operations and contribute to the country's food security," he said.
Following screenings by the European Commission, Ukraine is forming a unified position to protect domestic producers and expand access for Ukrainian products to EU markets.
Current government programs provide multiple forms of support:
- Affordable loans at 5-7-9% interest, now extended to conflict-affected areas, with refinancing and term extensions until 2027. Over 6,000 farms have received more than UAH 40 billion in 2025.
- Subsidies for irrigation, aquaculture, and small farms, including reconstruction of irrigation systems in the frontline and liberated territories.
- Direct payments of UAH 1,000 per hectare for arable land in affected regions.
The grants program will allow farmers to establish modern orchards and greenhouses, promote diversification, and enhance local food production.
