In week 42, Austrian online grocer Gurkerl celebrated a new milestone together with its technology partners AutoStore™ and Veloq, the latest tech spin-off from its parent company Rohlik Group: With the latest automation technology, the company's Vienna location is not only the most modern site of the Rohlik Group but also the most modern e-food logistics center in Europe.

Gurkerl is the first online grocer to use two new automation systems: The AutoStore system is being used for the first time for real-time sorting of completed orders according to delivery route. In addition, an AI-controlled picking robot (AI Robotics Piece Picking) from its partner Sereact ensures faster and more accurate order processing.

"This enables us to guarantee our customers better product availability, faster order processing—on average, only 30 minutes from order receipt to preparation for delivery, and even more reliable and error-free deliveries. At the same time, the new setup marks the start of a global partnership between Veloq and AutoStore, which will offer end-to-end solutions for the international food trade in the future. Our Vienna logistics center serves as a pilot site – a pioneer for the e-food logistics of the future," the company says.
