Marianne De Maio - Riverbend Orchard

"We’re anticipating a strong crop this year, with a medium fruit set"

Riverbend Orchard is gearing up for another promising season, growing premium peaches and nectarines across 460 acres in Wood Wood, Victoria.

"The growing season has been fantastic overall for stone fruit — the trees are healthy, the fruit is clean, and conditions have generally been kind to us," said Marianne De Maio, of Riverbend Orchard.

Harvest is expected to begin towards the end of October, around 10 to 14 days later than last year. "It's still a little early to comment on final size, colour, or brix, but the fruit is looking very promising, with great potential for both quality and flavour," Marianne said. "We're anticipating a strong crop around 90% this year, with a medium fruit set and excellent tree health right across the blocks."

Riverbend Orchard exports to key international markets, including Malaysia, Singapore, the Middle East (including Saudi Arabia), China, India, Taiwan, Canada, and Vietnam, with positive demand forecast heading into the new season.

"We're also always exploring new connections and potential markets to continue growing our export presence."
