Kazakhstan is expecting a decline in potato prices, although this is not anticipated before autumn, reports LS.
Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov, speaking at a government briefing, clarified the situation with vegetable prices.
"This year, I believe the yield will be normal, and there will be enough potatoes. In autumn, I expect the price to decrease. We have held relevant joint meetings with the Minister of Trade and are actively working on this," he said.
The minister also noted that if price surcharges exceed the maximum allowed levels, the ministry imposes fines on sellers in shopping centers.
Overall, according to Saparov, the area planted with potatoes has increased to 20,000 hectares this year.
