Tailored Freight, based in Epping, Australia, has ceased operations after 19 years, with voluntary administrators appointed at the end of May. The company's blue Kenworth fleet is no longer operational. The equipment was auctioned last month.
Jane Hawkes, Owner and Business Manager, communicated via LinkedIn, stating, "It's very sad, after 19 years, our beautiful blue trucks will no longer be on the road in the glory that they once were." Due to ongoing legal investigations by administrators KordaMentha, further comments are withheld.
A letter to Tailored Freight's customers dated April 16 announced the closure of operations. Jane and Wayne Hawkes expressed that the decision followed a comprehensive review of the current business environment. They stated, "This decision has not been made lightly and comes after careful consideration and evaluation of the current business environment."
The refrigerated transport firm has served major Australian cities and supermarket distribution centers, consolidating produce nightly at Melbourne markets. The company's scope of operations made it "a unique player in the fruit and veg game," according to its website.
A report from Prime Mover highlighted the company's 35-truck fleet, primarily Kenworths, plus three DAFs, with a recent addition of a few K220 models. Their equipment included a mix of reefers, curtainsiders, and various combinations optimized for transporting fresh produce.
