China and Cambodia deepen fruit trade ties with major supply chain deal

Beihai City in Guangxi hosted the Cambodian Agricultural Products Promotion Conference on June 6, marking a significant step in strengthening agricultural trade ties between China and Cambodia. During the event, Guangxi-based companies signed procurement and cooperation agreements with Cambodian enterprises, including a dried mango and durian trade deal valued at over 1.6 billion yuan, as reported by Chinese media outlets and confirmed during the signing ceremony.

Chen Zhengrong, representative of Cambodia's Sunlight Asian Fruit Company, highlighted that 2025 is a critical year for Cambodian durian, with plans underway to build a robust cold chain and supply infrastructure to ensure year-round quality and availability. The company aims to diversify its product range and expand Cambodian fruit access to Chinese markets.

Official data from Guangxi's trade authorities show that from January to April 2025, the region's trade with Cambodia reached 2.16 billion yuan, up 7.9% year-on-year. Key imports include cashews, bananas, longans, and other tropical produce. Beihai alone accounted for 990 million yuan of that volume, a 277.29% surge over the same period last year, further establishing itself as a vital distribution hub for Cambodian fruit in China.

Following the agreements, both nations convened a planning session for the Beihai Park of the China-Cambodia Industrial Park, where consensus was reached on site development and timelines for operational launch. These developments mark a growing synergy in cross-border agri-trade and infrastructure, opening new channels for Southeast Asian produce in the Chinese market.
