Egypt's food exports surge in the final week of May

According to the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), the volume of food exports from Egypt saw an increase in the final week of May, reaching 250,000 tons. This represents a 30,000 ton rise from the figures reported in the preceding week. The array of exported commodities encompassed over 610 varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables, alongside a spectrum of processed food items.

Specifically, vegetable exports totaled approximately 55,000 tonnes, with potatoes leading at 23,000 tons, onions at 22,000 tons, and beans at 5,000 tons. In the fruit category, citrus emerged as the foremost exported item, with a total of 55,000 tons, followed by fresh grapes at 25,000 tons and strawberries at 13,000 tons. The primary destinations for Egypt's food exports in the observed week were the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Italy, and Sudan.
