Iran's agricultural exports are experiencing growth

The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) reported a significant increase in Iran's agricultural exports. From March 20 to May 20, the country exported 1,562,000 tons of agricultural products, valued at $684 million, marking a 28 percent increase in value and a 24 percent rise in weight compared to the same period last year. Last year, during the same timeframe, Iran exported 1,260,000 tons of agricultural products, worth $536 million.

The main agricultural exports included apples, in-shell pistachios, watermelons, field tomatoes, and greenhouse tomatoes. These products significantly contributed to the country's export portfolio, representing about 6.66 percent of the total export weight and 8.53 percent of the total export value for the current year. Additionally, the previous Iranian calendar year saw a 22.5 percent increase in the value of Iran's exports of agricultural and foodstuff products, reaching approximately $6.3 billion, as stated by Ruhollah Latifi, the spokesman of the International Relations and Trade Development Committee of Iran's House of Industry, Mining and Trade.

Iran's agro-food products primarily found markets in Iraq, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Russia, with Iraq being the top importer. The overall value of Iran's foreign trade, including oil and technical engineering services, reached $153.17 billion in the last Iranian calendar year, showcasing a 2.6 percent increase from the previous year.
