President Marcos has expressed support for the Philippine Coconut Authority's (PCA) plan to plant 100 million coconut trees, aiming to position the Philippines as the leading coconut exporter globally. The President assured the PCA of the necessary resources for this initiative. Christopher Po, from Century Pacific Group and part of the PSAC Agricultural Sector Group, emphasized the need for increased seed nut production to accelerate the tree planting project.
Despite the Philippines currently being the second-largest coconut exporter, financial challenges are a concern for reaching the target within the Marcos administration's term. To address these issues, the advisory body has proposed recommendations, including a presidential directive for the PCA to create a strategic roadmap to hasten the initiative's implementation.
