U.S. March apple storage up a notable 34 percent over 2023

According to a monthly survey, the total number of U.S. apples in storage on March 1, 2024, was 118 million bushels, 34 percent more than last March's total of 88 million bushels and 25 percent more than the five-year average for that date.

Fresh apple holdings this March totaled 84 million bushels, 35 percent more than the inventories reported for last March. Processing holdings totaled 35 million bushels, 31 percent more than last year on March 1.

This report captures more than 95 percent of the national storage capacity.
