The French organic sector comes to the defense of Spain's organic production

French organic organizations have joined Ecovalia in condemning the statements that former French minister Ségolène Royal made about Spanish organic products.

Ifoam France, FNAB (Fédération Nationale d'Agriculture Biologique), Synabio, Groupe Ecocert, and Interbio Nouvelle Aquitanie stated - just as Álvaro Barrera, president of Ecovalia, had previously done - that "the cultivation and processing standards of organic products are strictly controlled according to European regulations in all 27 Member States so that both French and Spanish organic growers are subject to the same cultivation and control standards."

The French ecological organizations that signed the note regret "these objectively false and defamatory public statements about the organic sector and support Spanish organic organizations, and in particular Ecovalia, who wish to take legal action in response to these types of accusations." "Moreover, according to data from Agence Bio, French organic producers currently produce 80% of the organic products consumed in France and, like Spanish organic producers, they want to continue developing this virtuous production and processing model in their territory and at the European level, " they stated.
