Ecovalia takes legal action against the former minister for this intolerable attack on Spain's organic sector:

Former French minister Ségolène Royal declares that Spanish organic products "are a scam"

The Spanish organic production professional association will denounce former French minister Ségolène Royal to the Attorney General's Office and the European Commission for her statements accusing Spanish organic products of being "fake" and a "scam."

The French politician said the Spanish products were "fake organic" products. "Having all organic products in the same place in the supermarket is a scam because Spanish products are fake organic products," Royal said.

Faced with this attack, Ecovalia has taken legal action against the former minister before the State Attorney General's Office and the European Commission.

"We cannot allow unsubstantiated statements to ruin a sector," denounced the president of Ecovalia, Alvaro Barrera. He also called on institutions to condemn these types of statements that "are so damaging to organic production. All European producers work under the same regulation."

Common standards for all EU member states
Organic production is the only regulated public system with common standards for all EU Member States, which share a single label guaranteeing the official control exercised by all member states.
