Waikiki melon receives Flavor of the Year 2024 award in Portugal

In an exciting achievement, the Waikiki melon has received the Flavor of the Year 2024 award in Portugal. This recognition is given by an objective panel of consumers and endorsed by an external specialized laboratory. They have said to be exceptionally satisfied with the Waikiki and have put it in a prominent place, only surpassed in past editions by products such as chocolate.

The Waikiki, grown in close collaboration with our producing partner, Planicie Verde, has shown unparalleled quality and won over the palates of Portuguese consumers. The jury, made up of real consumers, highlighted the exceptional freshness, taste, and quality of the Waikiki, which has become the first melon to be awarded, following the steps of other exotic fruits, such as pineapples or mangoes.

The award is a testament to the brand's commitment to excellence and to offering a quality fruit that meets the expectations of the consumer.

"We are thrilled and honored to have received this award in Portugal," says José Cárdenas, Category Manager of the Foodture brands at Semillas Fitó. "It's a recognition of our effort to deliver concepts that respond to current consumer demands. Our partnership with Planicie Verde has been key in this achievement, and we are excited about the future that awaits us for the brand's growth."

In 2024, a significant expansion of the brand is expected to facilitate meeting the growing demand from Portuguese chains and consumers. "Meeting the demand of the Portuguese is a major challenge and we are expanding our resources to be able to continue offering the Waikiki throughout the campaign, managing to supply the right volumes and quality," says Luis Correia, general manager of Planicie Verde.

After winning the Flavor of the Year award, both companies will continue to invest in the brand's promotion and marketing. This will help consolidate its position, contributing to building up a highly differentiated consumer brand with added value in the market.
