Possible produce delays in Australia as floods cut major roads

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper was particularly hard on farmers across Far North Queensland, and flash flooding has now left growers cut off from distributing the produce they were able to save. Take Mackay Group, Australia's largest banana grower: with floodwaters blocking major arterial roadways, they have 76 tons of bananas trapped on their farm. According to Mackays farmer Ben Taylor, there is no way of getting all that produce out the distributors.

"Hopefully, we should get 10 days in our cool rooms out of our fruit, but we have fruit in there since last Wednesday so hopefully this Friday or weekend we'll start to get it down the road, but we'll have to see what the weather does and what the road conditions are like."
